SÜDPACK has entered a Joint Venture with Kamakshi Flexiprints Pvt Ltd, one of the leading producers of printed flexible packaging materials in India based in Ahmedabad.
The Joint Venture is also setting up a new facility nearby Ahmedabad to cater to the maturing packaging needs of the Indian markets with a vast range of products in barrier, aesthetics and convenience flexible packaging. The well-designed infrastructure will include state of the art extrusion, printing, coating and lamination capacities and is scheduled for inauguration in the summer of 2021. The facility shall be a Green Building as per IGBC and comply with GMPs and effective international regulations and standards of the food industry, including BRC, FSMS ISO 22001, QMS ISO 9001, SMS-ISO 45001.
The investment in this Joint Venture is a further step of the international growth strategy of the SÜDPACK Group. “We see a growing demand for high-quality barrier, medical and lidding flexible materials in the Indian market mainly due to the evolving matured packaging needs in the Indian sub-continent arising from constant demographic changes. With the well-designed infrastructure, we will be able to meet the industry-specific operational excellence facilitated inter alia by the automation in process control,” Harish Goel, managing director of Kamakshi Flexiprints, further explains.
We were able to gather a few more details from Thacisse Carl, managing director, Südpack, in answer to a few questions
Sudpack starts a significant investment in Ahmedabad. Can you give us some data on this investment?
Thacisse Carl responded, “A production area of 15,000 square meters is being built. The investment amount is not published at this time, however.
Which Sudpack products should preferably be produced in the new joint venture plant?
Carl answered, “The focus will be on the Indian market, where different segments are served. Accordingly, the product range will also be very extensive and will include different plastic composites as well as bags, for example.
Will this Indian production facility be positioned as a location for the further development of Sudpack’s activities in Asia?
Carl explained, “In the medium term, the investment in India is also intended to cover other Asian countries, but the focus is now initially on the Indian subcontinent.
